Sarah joined Edwards Family Law in July 2023 as a Senior Associate.
Sarah advises clients on all aspects of family law, with a particular focus on resolving complex financial issues for high-net-worth individuals. Many of her cases involve trusts, corporate structures and jurisdiction issues. In addition, Sarah regularly advises upon the negotiation and enforcement of post and pre-nuptial agreements.
Sarah also has experience in private children matters, including child arrangements and financial provision.
Sarah acts for a wide variety of individuals from city professionals and entrepreneurs to homemakers. Sarah’s focus is on providing reassuring and proactive advice and guidance during what is an extremely difficult time in peoples lives. Sarah has extensive experience of litigation, but is also committed to achieving creative solutions outside of the court setting where appropriate and possible, tailored to each client’s individual circumstances and goals.
Particular highlights include:
- Representing the wife within High Court proceedings, with interests spanning five jurisdictions and total wealth of c£230m+, generated during the marriage through full and equal contributions by both parties. Successfully defending the husband’s arguments with regards to post-separation accrual and special contribution and securing the wife an award of c45% of the marital pot.
- Successfully defending a variation claim brought by an ex-spouse in respect of spousal and child maintenance following the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Representing the wife in Part III proceedings following a divorce in Russia. The case, which included the instruction of four Queens Counsel, was heard before Mrs Justice Roberts in the High Court over a 21 day two-stage hearing, and culminated in the Wife being awarded an additional lump sum of £1.148m, together with additional provision for the children. The matter was subsequently brought before the Court of Appeal.
- Representing the husband following a 12-year marriage with 3 young children, where the parties’ assets of c£17m+ were, in the main, generated during the marriage. Following successful negotiations outside of court, the husband was able to retain an 100% interest in his businesses and pre-marital properties, together with a clean break as to capital and income.
